SEED participates at the World Investment Forum 2023

SEED contributed to two sessions on circular economy and agri-food systems during the World Investment Forum, organised by UNCTAD on the 16-20th of October in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The sessions created a platform to showcase some of the best practices and discuss possible challenges and solutions that face entrepreneurs in these fields. Read more
Agrifood Transformation for the SDGs: Innovations and SMEs as the gamechangers

SEED and FAO will host a Side Event at UN Food Systems Summit +2, on Wednesday, 26 July, in Rome, Italy and online. The side-event considers countries' pathways and different realities by showcasing and exchanging various bottom-up solutions and innovations that can support ongoing sectoral policies, national food systems strategies and voluntary national reviews in the context of the 2030 agenda. AgriCentric Ventures from Ghana

AgriCentric partners with both smallholder farmers and commercial scale farmers to buy their farm waste. The waste is processed into high value organic products: bio-char, bio-fertiliser, dietary supplement for livestock & fish, and bio-pesticides which are then sold back to farmers at cheap prices to enable them to engage in sustainable food production. Green Honey Company Limited from Ghana

Green Honey Company Limited trains farms to integrate beekeeping into crop farming as a method to reduce chemical use, increase crop yield and food quality. BioAfriq Energy Limited (SEED Starter participant) has been awarded the TOTAL KENYA STARTUPPER OF THE YEAR AWARD. The enterprise provides affordable dehydration services to small and medium farmers, cooperatives and agricultural processing plants most of which do not have adequate funds to purchase food dehydrators and so incur huge post-harvest losses. Safi Organics wins 2018 Thought for Food award in Rio de Janeiro

The Kenyan start-up Safi Organics (SAG-SEED Award Winner 2016) won an $5,000 award for its decentralised, organic fertiliser production system during the Thought For Food (TFF) conference 2018 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.The conference attracted several hundred young people from across the world to pitch and discuss ideas on how to feed the world’s booming population with agriculture startups.
